BUSTED....
My wife breezed into the garage the other night and caught me sitting at the wheel, one hand on the steering wheel the other casually draped out of the window. I swear I was not going Bruuummm Bruummmm. I was just admiring my new instruments and the final work on the dash panel... Honest... I have mounted a Tacho and turbo boost gauge on the steering column, with a space for a planned air/fuel ratio gauge as well, It looks great..
Anyway the car is coming on but things are taking ages. I stayed up till 3am one night just working out the speedo drive gears needed to make the speedo accurate. The old 998cc engine got a quick lick of paint and is now installed, electrics are all good. I decided to install the fuel supply ready for the turbo. That means a high pressure pump and pressure regulator. Initially I am just going with a tee for the return and found a fuel filter that does both filtering and acts as a tee. I'm not keen on having this stuff inside the car boot so wanted to mount it under the boot floor. I spent ages working out where to put the fuel pump, did it then as I admired the result it dawned on me that I had completely forgotten the bloody exhaust which was not installed yet... had to move it again. Problem is that it currently I have a side exit exhaust so I'll probably have to move it again when the DTM one goes in for the turbo. I'm a bit worried about the proximity of the exhaust to the fuel lines etc. maybe a heatshield will be needed I'll check the temps onece its running.
All I need to do now is refit the carb and driveshafts, bleed the brakes and clutch and I can drive it again...well, without the bonnet anyway I still have to weld that up.
