Sept 30th 2006 Glass, interior and bonnet problems

Installed the glass, found that for the front and rear screens best way is to install the rubber seal to the frame and then install the glass from outside, once I worked this out it was quite easy with just some soapy water and a free paint tin opener from Home depot. I installed some locking strip from a Triumph but suspect that its not as big as the mini as they are sloppy, I have ordered the proper locking strip and a tool as it looks like it may be a pig to get them in... the rear quarters were different, I put the rubber seal on the glass first and used some nylon cord to lip the rubber from the inside of the car, again not a bad job once I worked out the correct way. Installed the boot, rear lights (minus the right lens, Minispares had sent me 2 lefts) front lights and some of the interior bits and pieces. Installed the doors, Decent fit but as I guessed the gaps to the A panels are a bit bigger than I wanted but at least they are even. Then Waxoyl was applied inside of all the cavities. Interior was scrubbed and dried then installed, it came up pretty well. Once the steering column seal and drop bracket are installed I can fit the final pieces of carpet in the front.

My Aftermarket bonnet looked OK but when I went to fit the chrome strip I realised that the lip had not been installed properly and was too short at both ends. I had noticed that the bonnet was a little longin this area and was planning to "persuade" it a little but this explains it. If I cut the spot welds and re-weld the strip properly it will in fact bring the contour back to the proper shape.
